about

We’re Zoë & Marit, two lifelong Door County vacationers who were determined to make our Door County summers last well-past our leave-by dates.

Last year we launched our businesses Kiln Floating Sauna & The Door Stop in an effort to extend our favorite season & give back to our favorite place.

This summer, we’ve created Midsommar Girls to support women who want to build creative, independent careers and gain real-world exposure to entrepreneurship.

Our goal is to offer hands-on experience, honest mentorship, and a community that helps you explore what kind of work—and life—you want to build.

Our Why

After seven years of dreaming, Marit Koestring launched The Door Stop out of a deep love for Door County. Inspired by the peninsula’s sense of belonging and connection, she set out to create a brand that captures its spirit—a logo people can wear proudly as a symbol of a place where you don’t just visit, you belong.

Zoë Lake founded Kiln after leaving a ten-year career in news production. While visiting family in Norway, she experienced the magic of floating sauna for the first time and became determined to bring that magic home. Zoë launched Kiln in Door County last summer before moving her operation down to Chicago for the winter.

We created Midsommar Girls to support women who are looking to build creative, independent careers, and want real world exposure to entrepreneurship. Our goal is to provide hands-on experience, honest mentorship, and community for an unforgettable and deeply rewarding summer up north.
